From PBS.org…
In 1893, a bounty hunter named Ernest Thompson Seton journeyed to the untamed canyons of New Mexico on a mission to kill a dangerous outlaw. Feared by ranchers throughout the region, the outlaw wasn’t a pistol-packing cowboy or train-robbing bandit. The outlaw was a wolf.
Thank you so much for posting this! I caught about 10 minutes of it a few weeks ago and was bummed that it wasn’t scheduled to air again. Never thought to look on the internet 🙂
I too want to thank you for posting this. I had no idea it had even been made. It’s been more than 40 years since I first heard the story of Lobo and Blanca back when I was a Nina at the Philmont Training Center (may have been told the story years earlier when I was a Small Fry but was too young to remember) and nearly 30 years since I last heard their sad yet inspiring love story while working on the PTC staff (1978, 1979, 1981). There were aspects of this story that I had forgotten and others that I suspect was never told. I am glad the documentary left out the complete details of Blanca’s death. While working on the PTC Services staff in 1978, I had the privilege of seeing the thousands of historical and natural items maintained at the Seton Museum. Most people only get to see what’s on display in the limited space on the main floor, but the curator was kind enough to take my coworkers through all of the exhibits stored in the basement area of the museum. That was an experience I will never forget.
@deb Glad we could direct you to something that brought back good memories. I’ve not found the time to watch it yet myself, but I’m sure I will soon.
