The second annual Trey Jones Gearhead Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Reynolda Village on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem, NC. Adventurers, climbers and Scouts will want to come see the new spring outdoor equipment and apparel from the vendors listed below.
Sponsored by the Village Outdoor Shop at Reynolda Village, the expo will host vendors exhibiting their latest apparel and footwear, sleeping bags, outdoor cooking equipment, camping gear and more. Additionally, information on Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and on the Boy Scout program will be available.
The Trey Jones Gearhead Expo serves another purpose as well. A percentage of sales at Village Outdoor that day, as well as all monies raised from donations, raffle and silent auction items, will be donated to scholarships to send two scouts to Philmont Scout Ranch. Philmont is the Boy Scouts of America’s premier high-adventure base on more than 200 square miles of rugged New Mexico wilderness.
One of the scholarships is designated to send a local scout from the Old Hickory Council to Philmont Scout Ranch. The second is to fund any scout to participate in the Roving Outdoor Conservation School (ROCS) at Philmont. These scholarships were established in memory of an outstanding young man and Eagle Scout, Trey Jones, who served as Director of ROCS at Philmont. Trey was the ultimate Gearhead.
The Gearhead Expo will be inside the Cow Barn located in front of Village Outdoor Shop and Mayberry Ice Cream Restaurant. For more information, please contact Village Outdoor Shop at (336) 748-2195.
Participating vendors will include: The North Face, Mountain Hard Wear, Marmot, Osprey Packs, Deuter, MSR, Vasque, Keen, Icebreaker, Ibex, Smartwool, Darn Tough Socks, SnowPeak and Outdoor Research.
