The Silver Trek
Now is the time to mark your calendar and arrange time off for your participation in the Twenty Fifth Annual PSA Trek – The Silver Trek. The Silver Trek is open to 72 participants, and because the PSA is hosting Trekkers from the Sommers Alumni Association and the Sea Base Alumni Association as part of the Exchange Program, a sell-out is likely. Sign up now – do not wait or you may be left out.
The Silver Trek is August 7 – 14. The cost is $400 per person. Eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Be a member of the PSA or Trek-eligible family member.
- Be a member of the BSA.
- Have a completed Philmont medical form.
- Be 14 years old OR completed 8th grade and be at least 13 years of age prior to participation.
- Be in good physical shape.
Special Award Patch
Persons completing the Silver Trek will receive a special award patch. It must be earned, it cannot be purchased. This is in addition to the Philmont Arrowhead patch earned by Trek participants.
The PSA Reunion
The Trek will be preceded by the annual PSA Reunion August 5 – 7. You are welcome to attend the Reunion at no additional cost.
Trek Eligible Family Members
You can bring your spouse, child or step child, sibling, parent, grandparent, grandchild, niece, nephew or in-law who meets the eligibility requirements above.

Trek reservations are phenomenal. Thirty three of 72 available Trek slots have been sold! Claim yours now!
Looking forward to it!!
I hear it’s a sell out already!!
We have indeed sold the original 72 slots. However, past experience tells us that we will have 7-8 cancellations at the last minute. Because of this, we are going ahead and accepting up to 80 registrations, and all of these are considered “in”. After we hit 80 registrants, we will be accepting registrations on a “stand-by” basis. Bottom line, sign up right away and you are Trek-bound!
Philmont has made addtional Trek slots available for the 25th Annual PSA Trek — the Silver Trek. Four slots are still available, and the first 7-8 persons on the standby list will have a good chance of clearning the standby list. Members of the PSA, SAA and SBAFA can claim these slots for themselves and Trek-eligible family members. Register on-line at the Trek link under the Company Store on left side of web page.
Would like to go, Harry Doremus staff 75 76 with my son, Could you give me a call at 832 418 3083 Don,t want to miss this one. Where do we send the money, Thanks.
@lisa there is a link to the printable form or to purchase online at the bottom of the post.
We are taking fully confirmed reservations for the Trek. These are not standby reservations. Only when we go over 80 reservations will the reservations be considered standby. Get these fully confirmed reservations while they last.
Wow, got the email on the 2012 trip from Ely, Mn to Atikokan, Ontario as well!!! We’re in!! Count on at least 3 of us!! Those were my old stomping grounds as a Charlie Guide!! Led that trek in reverse twice that one summer!!
Paul:
We are going to do it the way you did it: Atikokan to Ely. Do you still know the route?
I remember much of the route, but will need to pull some old maps and reminisce!
In 2003 we took my wife Samantha and our four sons back to Atikokan and spent a week there. They loved it and didn’t want to leave (neither did I)!
