The W- Hotel is located in a neighborhood the Phillips’s knew well – Westwood – and is situated on the main route between their Bellagio Road home and Waite’s offices on Wilshire Boulevard, the main Westwood thoroughfare. They drove past this location regularly.
There will be a cash bar – meaning you pay for what you drink – and the setting will be a stunning location to kick off this memorable weekend. The WET Deck is a hot scene by day, cooler by night.
Those who take advantage of the preferred rate at the W-Hotel will be only an elevator ride away from the WET Deck, others staying at hotels where we have procured preferred rates are within very easy walking distance. You will not need a car.
The really big events take place Saturday, February 1, and include the Celebration Observance, mausoleum visit where the doors will be opened, self-guided Westwood cemetery tours (those who find the graves of Roy Orbison and Frank Zappa will get a special honor) and finally, an elegant luncheon in a Westwood restaurant.
The cost of this event – which includes your lunch, is $55, a bargain by Los Angeles standards.
