The Backcountry Cookbook was first created years ago to provide Philmont’s backcountry staffs with a resource useful for preparing meals using items provided in a the typical commissary. The first edition had plenty of SPAM recipes. The latest revision of the cookbook was done in 2009.
Now is the time to update the cookbook again. If you have recipes that were used in backcountry camps, please send them in to be added to the newest version of the Backcountry Cookbook. We are looking for recipes for entrees, appetizers, desserts, drink concoctions (non-alcoholic), dips and other edible treats that have graced dining tables in the Philmont backcountry.

The new Backcountry Cookbook will be available for purchase in the Spring of 2016.
