Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park

The 21000-acre park features hiking and bicycle trails, a visitor’s center and observation tower, a boat ramp to 300-acre Lake Wauberg, RV and tent camping areas, wildlife viewing, and even bison.

What to Bring
A pot luck dish, photo albums, and stories! Plates, napkins, and drinks will be supplied, as will a laptop with screen to share your digital photos from a flash drive.

Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is located 10 miles south of Gainesville, in Micanopy, on the east side of US 441.

  • From I-75 take exit 374 (Micanopy exit) and turn east onto CR 234.
  • Stay on this road 1.4 miles until it intersects with US 441.
  • Turn left onto 441 and go 0.6 miles to Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park (on the right).

Park admission is $6 per vehicle for 2 to 8 persons and $4 for single occupants. We will meet at Picnic Pavilion 2, which has tables and is convenient to restrooms, a roofed multi-grill cooking shed, trails, the campground, and a playground. Houston PSA Christmas Party

houston night skylineThere has never been a PSA Christmas party in Houston, but this year that is going to change.

Lee Huckstep, together with co-hosts Doug and Sharon Latimer, will host a PSA Christmas party on December 20, from 5–9PM. The party will be at Lee’s home located in the Montrose area of Houston at 517 Hawthorne, Houston, 77006.

You and your guests are invited to join the Phestivities. A light supper will be served, together with liquid refreshments. Entertainment will include movie clips from the Philmont Documentary, and the just-released PSA membership recruitment video.

If you are busy that night, stop by for as long as your schedule permits, if you have nothing else to do, plan to stay awhile.

Dayton Reunion in August


August 29 and 30 in Dayton. Activities begin at 7PM Friday night at a Dayton Dragons baseball game if we can get enough participants to sign up–see RSVP info below. Saturday the 30th we’ll meet at the Air Force Museum at 9AM. Lunch at Carillon Historical Park with a brewery tour later that afternoon. Dinner will be a cook-out at Scott Tritt’s home.
