Do you want to enjoy the beauty of Philmont every day this year? Well now you can!

The 2015 PSA photo calendar is now available for pre-order. Including 13 full color photos taken at Philmont with a variety of views, seasons and activities, this calendar is perfect for work or home. The calendar will include significant historical dates pertaining to Philmont and New Mexico. A great gift for all Philmont fans.

The calendar costs $25 and net proceeds go towards the PSA Staff Scholarship. The PSA Staff Scholarship provides money for college tuition to returning seasonal staff members. In 2014, the PSA awarded $50,000 to seasonal staff members, supporting and celebrating their educational goals. This is an excellent opportunity to support that great cause and to “Be Prepared” as you plan and organize using your PSA calendar.

We are only taking pre-orders through November 1, 2014, so time is limited. Calendars will ship the first week of December–just in time for the holidays!

2014 Autumn Adventure Trek

Jon Thompson photo.See Philmont from a different perspective than the hustle and bustle of the summer that you experience while being on staff, enjoy the stillness and serenity of the Philmont backcountry, backpack through the golden aspens and listen for bugling elk.

Join the PSA this October for the Ninth Annual PSA Autumn Adventure Trek. The backcountry camps have already gathered, so the program will consist of hiking, sightseeing and fellowship.

Autumn Adventure is open to crews of six to twelve participants accompanied by an Autumn Adventure guide. Know some friends you would like to share the Philmont experience with? Form your own crew and create your custom itinerary. Don’t know anyone you can get to come with you? Sign up and you will be placed in a crew of other PSA members.

The Autumn Adventure Trek is October 12– 17.

Cost and Eligibility
The cost is $275 per person. Eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Be a member of the PSA or Trek-eligible family member.
  • Be a member of the BSA.
  • Have a completed Philmont medical form.
  • Be 14 years old OR completed 8th grade and be at least 13 years of age prior to participation.
  • Be in good physical shape.

Special Award Patch
Persons completing the Autumn Adventure Trek will receive a special award patch. It must be earned; it cannot be purchased.

Trek Eligible Members
You can bring your family or friends who meets the eligibility requirements above.

Registration Cut-off
Registration cut-off is September 15, 2014. Use the printable form or purchase online.

The Schedule

  • Saturday, October 11, meet and greet at the St. James Hotel, 7pm.
  • Sunday, October 12, report to the Welcome Center at 9 a.m, basecamp checkout and hit the trail.
  • Friday, October 17, return from trail. Dinner.
  • Saturday, October 18, depart Philmont.

Basecamp tents are available for the night before and the night after.

Cancellation Policy

  1. Cancellations prior to the registration deadline of September 15, 2014 will receive a full refund.
  2. Cancellation after the registration deadlines will not receive a refund. Monies paid can be used for another PSA or Exchange Program event (prior to the end of 2014) or can be contributed to the General Fund.
  3. In exceptional cases, the Executive Director and Vice President of Service can authorize full refunds for cancellation after the registration deadline.

Basecamp tents are available for the night before and the night after.

A limited quantity of PSA photo calendars will be available for purchase this holiday season. Net proceeds will go to fund PSA staff scholarships. These scholarships provide money for college to returning seasonal staff members. The program is important to the staffers who receive the scholarships and represent an important recruiting tool for the professional staff at the ranch.

It is the perfect gift for the Philmont fan in your home. The cost will be $25, which might seem like a lot, but the proceeds are really for a great cause. 2013 PSA Reunion – Friday Only Option

Can’t come to the week-long PSA Reunion? Not trekking this summer? Join us at PTC on Friday, July 19 for PSA Festivities

post_2013PTCReunion_02The Philmont Training Center is offering PSA members who are not attending the week-long reunion or trek a unique opportunity in conjunction with our week-long conference Reunion in July. Those PSA members that would like to attend the PSA’s Annual Meeting and related activities on Friday, July 19 are invited to attend, using one of the two options listed below.

Here are the two options available for you on Friday, July 19:

All people attending activities on Friday must be registered in order to participate.

Those people attending the week-long PSA Reunion conference at PTC and PSA Celebration Trek hikers do not need to register for Friday’s activities. This is already included as part of your participation in the Reunion and Trek.

Activities scheduled for Friday, July 19:

  • Silent Auction to benefit Scholarship Fund
  • Reception/Reunion for 1963 Philmont Rangers
  • PSA Annual Meeting
  • Silver Sage award presentation to Gene Schnell
  • Distinguished Staff Alumni award presentation to Rick Searfoss
  • PTC Family Closing Campfire
  • Fellowship with PSA Trekkers, who will come off the trail to join us Friday afternoon
  • Decade staff photos
