Description
It is a Uberti made copy of a Winchester 73 in 357 that was a program used gun at Ponil. The rifle was donated to the PSA by Philmont for the purpose of this conversion/customization for this fund raising endeaver.
The rifle was converted to a Takedown and restocked with quilted maple by Lee Hadaway or Bear (Staff 84-90). He is a professional gunsmith and operates The Arms Room LLC based out of Trinidad, Colorado. www.thearmsroom.com
The custom, hand tooled leather case was made by J Cusimano, a custom saddlemaker, who owns Tumbleweed Saddle Shop, also in Trinidad, Colorado. http://www.bestsaddles.com/index.html
The beautiful color case hardening on the butt plate, hammer, lever and nose cap was done by James Palmer, a student in TSJC’s Intro To Gunsmithing for Veterans
And last but not least, the custom knife was made by the PSA’s and Cimarron’s own Steve Rick, who used the same quilted maple in this knife grip as was used in the stock for the rifle.
