Were you a Philmont Ranger in the 50s, the late 1900s or the 20-teens?
I’ll bet you have great memories of those sun filled days hiking the backcountry at Philmont and imparting your wisdom to whatever Crew you had the pleasure of preparing for the trail on that rotation. Were you a Ranger during the era of the Scout neckerchiefs with the Ranger design, the era with the Ranger t-shirts, or were you lucky enough to be a Ranger and get one of the cool “Philmont Ranger” ball caps? Did that Philmont Ranger cap finally wear it out from constant use on your adventures?
When I was a Ranger in the mid 80s we had the t-shirts, but not the ball caps. I’ve always been a little envious of those Rangers after my time who were lucky enough to have one.
Well, this is your lucky day! Through a suggestion on Facebook we have gotten Philmont Ranch leadership’s go-ahead to re-issue a run of the Philmont Ranger ball caps which the Ranger Department had done in the past as a private run of each summer.
These ball caps are available in two styles. In keeping with the tradition of the Ranger caps of the past, we are offering a green cap with gold lettering and a tan cap with green lettering. Both have the words “Philmont Ranger” embroidered on the front of the cap and “Cimarron, NM” above the adjustment strap opening on back. Both are high quality hats that should last you for many more adventure filled years. Both caps cost $20. You could even personalize yours at your local embroidery shop to add your name, trail name, Training Crew number or years serving as a Ranger.
