Description

The Will Burris Scholarship Endowment is now over $25,000 raised for this cause! We are now able to endow a $1,000 scholarship in perpetuity thanks to the generosity of so many friends and family members who knew Will. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Will’s dream to help other Scouts continue on their leadership trail at Philmont Scout Ranch.  For those who continue to contribute please accept our sincere appreciation for your generosity and support of Scouting! Please know that Will’s family will continue to match your gifts up to a total of $5,000 annually with a goal of reaching $50,000 in memory of Will’s infectious smile, insatiable desire to teach others, and his “All-In” approach to living life to the fullest in the outdoors. Will embodied all that Philmont has to offer young men and women.  From his first trek with Troop 617, continuing through Rayado, followed by serving as a Ranger, then selected as Rayado Ranger and finally working as a Ranger Trainer … Will lived and breathed life in the mountains around Base Camp.  We were all saddened when Will was suddenly lost to cardiac arrest in 2020.  In his name we honor his accomplishment as both a Ranger and an EMT. This PSA endowed scholarship in Will’s name is dedicated to supporting staff members who are training to become EMTs, Paramedics, Fire Fighters and First Responders.  Please help us honor Will and all that he provided his fellow Philmont Staff and Scouts by making a donation today.

Philmont is owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America and is the largest youth camp in the world. Set in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico, Philmont provides the opportunity every summer for tens of thousands of Scouts to have a wilderness experience that lasts a lifetime. Will found that it was also a place that cultivated the best development atmosphere possible for engaging our young adults charged with the training and leadership of Scouts and Scout Leaders. Will cherished every minute spent at Philmont over five seasons – he considered it his home filled with friends he held dear.

This scholarship will go to a Philmont Staffer in the Ranger Department.
