Volunteer work at Philmont Scout Ranch is the best opportunity to give back to a place that holds such a special place in our hearts and fond memories from our youth. Participating in service projects give our members the chance to revisit their scouting days while making lasting impression and improvements to the ranch for generations to come.
PhilBreak was re-established in 2019 as a response to the 2018 Ute Park fire. Assisting with recovery and improvement efforts, PSA members have returned to the ranch in March of each year to perform forest fuel reduction, slash pile burning, and general debris clearing. Each week is exciting, rewarding, and exhausting; the best way to give back and contribute to Philmont.
Volunteer Vacation began in 2016. PSA members have jumped at an opportunity to get back to Philmont and truly give back their time and hard work to help Philmont. The initial project for Volunteer Vacation has been the construction of a spur trail going to the summit of Cimarroncito Peak where no trail has existed previously.
